Be Filled with Spirit.

Acrylic on Canvas 60" x 72"

With religion being such a protected topic in today’s society, Ron feels blessed to express his passion for scripture in such a dynamic way. His work “Be filled with Spirit- not Drunk on Wine”, is based on his oldest daughter’s experiences in College and her turn towards Christianity. As challenges for kids and adults seem all the greater to indulge in alcohol and drugs, Ron found inspiration through nature and scripture to paint about this topic.
The physical vision stems from hawks circling above the oaks with open rings reaching towards the heaven.  Ron uses multiple layers of opague and transparent colors to create the depth between the rings. Inside the rings are quotes from scripture reflecting on young adults challenges. The following is scripture found in the painting.

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with Spirit. Galatians 5:18

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. Corinthians 6:19

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

“If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” John 7:37

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:8-10
You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your body is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. Romans 8:5-11

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Galatians 5:19-26
