Gateway 72 x 60
Acrylic on Canvas 72" x 60"
• Matthew 7:13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
This painting was inspired on a hike in the Lakes Basin area of Plumas County. The walk was highlighted by beautiful mountains, large pines, rock outcrops, pristine streams and a wonderful waterfall. It was an emotional time for me as I had just lost my mother and I had so many questions about life, faith and God. At one point of the hike I came to a series of rock outcrops and a meandering path where it opened up to what felt like a small Gateway. At this point I was overcome by the Spirit. The emotions poured out as I knew God and my mom was telling it would be okay. It felt like this would eventually be my entrance to heaven and whoever I had lost would be waiting for me at this spot
